Find all the notes in a scale in ANY key…INSTANTLY!

If you want to play or use major and natural minor scales, here are some printable Piano Scale Guides I made for you. Slide them into position, and ALL the scale notes in ANY key are clearly marked for you!

What about stickers?

Please, NO!

Piano Scale Guides (and Piano Key Guides)  are a much better alternative to putting stickers on the keys of your beloved instrument. I would strongly recommend that you never put stickers on the keys of your piano or keyboard, even if the instructions say ‘easy to remove’ or ‘won’t leave marks’. I have seen keys ruined by them! These printable piano key guides can be moved around, removed and replaced whenever you need them.

How to print and cut

Print on paper or card. Thin card is more hardwearing, but paper is okay, too. You can laminate them to make them last even longer…but if they wear out, just re-print them!

Print at 100% for standard piano keys; other keyboards may require adjustment. For example, Yamaha keyboard keys often work well at 97%. If you can’t adjust print size, try Adobe Acrobat Reader (it’s free.)

Then cut out along the outlines of each scale guide.

How to find your scales

Choose between the major or natural minor scale guide.
(Or choose from six more scales at the bottom of this page!)

Find the root note of your scale on the piano (use these FREE Piano Key Guides to help if needed.)

Slot your key guide immediately behind the back edge of the keys (just in front of the felt strip if there is one) and slide it along until the number 1 is directly behind the root note.

For example, here’s the position for a D major scale. The number 1 is lined up with the back of the D key. All of the notes in the D major scale are now clearly marked:

You can see that the notes of the D major scale are D, E, F#, G, A, B, C# and D.

Similarly, here’s the scale of F sharp (F#) natural minor, using the natural minor scale guide (harmonic and melodic minor scale guides available at the bottom of this page):

The natural minor scale guide is lined up with the back of the F sharp (F#) key:

The scale guide now clearly shows you the notes of the F sharp nautral minor scale: F#, G#, A, B, C# D, E, and F#.

And the great thing is…

It works with ANY key!

Just slide it to where you need it.

You can now find TWENTY-FOUR scales: major and natural minor, starting on any of the 12 pitches on your piano!
